There are quite a few steps to take to treat TMJ dysfunction before Botox injections.
It is a very very common problem , most people will manage fine with stress relief measures, simple exercises , and possibly a bite guard.
If these simple measures do not work then referral to the hospital service may be the next appropriate measure.
Investigations may then be undertaken to see if further treatment is appropriate.0 -
I have it too. I tried a bite guard but that just made it worse. I seemed to clench more when it was in. I don’t feel like I grind my teeth and don’t believe there’s any damage to teeth.
I always remember being about 21 and the dentist saying my jaw was out of alignment, but it never bothered me back then.
I meditated and relax as much as I can, but when it flares up there’s nothing that helps. I have Fibromyalgia so don’t know if that makes it worse. I saw an oral surgeon at the hospital and she said if my abdominal muscles were as tight as my jaw ones, I’d have a six pack to die for!!! :rotfl:0
