Are you able to be a party to the purchase, having lived in the property for twelve months or longer?

If so, you can buy jointly.

Then, you will need a joint mortgage.

  • You need to check this with the housing authority as they will have different rules as to who will own it if the purchaser(s) are not residents

We are purchasing ours with one name even though the right to buy offer was made with two names because I havent been in my job long enough to be eligible to go on the mortgage for another six months so the property will be in my husbands name

Previous post says has been living there for 12 months but has their own tenancy elsewhere
