Land registry charge removal on a secured loan

We took out a secured loan 10 years ago through paragon and we were so delighted to make our final payment this month.
We have just received a letter today telling us our direct debit is still in place, I found up to query this and I have been informed that due to Scottish Law we are getting charged another £150 to remove us from the land registry.

Is this charge correct?

We have received no paperwork informing us of this charge and nothing on our statements informing us that this was still to be paid.

If this is correct can I arrange to get this done cheaper myself and not through paragon, determined not to give them any extra money!!!!

  • Indeed it is a legitimate fee.
This would have been detailed on the loan acceptance form you signed when you got the loan - have you got your copy?
