Best thing is to quit . Different if you’ve been there for many tears as mentioned above . The longer you are there , the worse it will be .
Move on .0 -
Thanks all....i'm definitely moving on, but i wasn't sure how urgent it was....
I've been planning to be quite picky, but i'm thinking maybe i should be less so....
Shame really as it has all the makings of a good place to work. Its just the bloke at the top should've retired many years ago and his son should've stepped up...0 -
Sometimes it takes a while to get a decent position after being in a previous position for some time . Shouldn’t be too long before the right job comes along . Wishing you the best of luck .0

You can still be picky, just ramp up the job search
At least if you know you're getting out it might make it a bit more bearable in the meantime. I have a tyrannical boss at the moment so can empathise. It is a shame when someone has to ruin it (and they have all the power). 0 -
He sounds like the old style bosses who believed that because they owned the company they could do, say and act exactly as they want. Whether that's the right or wrong attitude I'll leave to others to decide.
What you can be certain of is that he won't change now so you really have two options (1) Learn how to play his game (2) Get out as soon as possible.0 -
Its totally wrong that you should have to leave, but in your position I'd do the same. Even after 2 years he could fire you. Just claim your position is no longer needed and its goodbye. Unless you can prove discrimination, there isn't much protection.
I left my last job mostly because of rude managers. I started off being selective about what I applied for and then less so when I became desperate to leave! In the end it took 6 months and 8 interviews! Got there in the end!
Try not to get into any confrontation just because the stress is bad for you. This chairman sounds like a nasty old man. Let it wash over you.
Good luck with job hunting.0 -
Resign on the grounds of sexual harassment in the work place...sounds like the old codger would soon shuffle off.
You mentioned his son stepping up,does he work for the company and in a managerial position,if so could you not take him to one side and have a chat and explain the situation.

Personally if it's as bad as you say I would just resign and fully focus my efforts on finding a job. I think it's difficult to job hunt and go for interviews in the situation you are in at present. It does obviously depend if you can afford to do that, or get some immediate temporary work or something to fill the gap. I'm guessing your references will need to come from elsewhere when you need them too.
Horrible situation, I do sympathise. Good luck with your search.0
