Can anyone give me some tips to paying off mortgage? Whats 'stooking' 0% credit cards etc. Is it really possible to play the system??!! And how!
Can't really afford to pay extra each month out of salary and don't have a spare room to rent out. No loans or credit card debit, just 166K mortgage to pay off, sigh.
Realise small savings help - done the ebay thing selling off stuff, , use coupons etc when food shopping to make ends meet, make packed lunches....
Any tips gratefully recieved

Stoozing is a option but you will still NEED to pay the minimum payment for the credit card each month.
My starter tips would be:-
1. Make sure you are getting the best deal on your products & services. i.e. gas, electric, car insurance.
2. Use cashback sites where you can. Quidco & topcashback are my favourites and I've made around £500 in nearly 12 months just be using these to buy what I would have bought anyway.
3. Same idea as above but also using a cashback credit card but ONLY if you can clear the balance each month.
4. Sell, sell, sell. Christmas is coming and look again for items that people might want. Otherwise get rid of those unwanted gifts you receive.
5. Collect £2.00 coins or similar. I don't do this for my mortgage but do it for my son's piggy bank and you'll be surprised how quick they grow.
6. Read the theads and the excellent sticky's on here for inspiration.
More will follow from others plus I'll add some more when I remember them.
Good luck and get a plan in place as this won't disapear over night and takes time and will power.
EDIT: I always find reading the success stories is a great motivator. Have a look at the 'Roll of Honour'Regards,
Dave

I think all the tips are the same as you would find anywhere else on the site. Essentially we are all DFW too, so that board is a valuable source for day to day ideas of making your money go further.0

My best tip is to meal plan down to the exact amount of carrotts etc you need. Work out exactly what you need to eat each and every day and only buy that. It will save money and waste.
If you can stand it then turn the heating down. Wear a jumper and get those fuel bills down.
Just remember that any overpayment you make will have an effect.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
This is not a reply but I can't figure out how to just post without replying. So here goes: I went onto the Egg website to get a card and it asked me questions about how I wanted to use the card. From memory, I think there were 3 options and I had no idea! Can anyone help me decide which is for stoozers? Thanks.0
