Hi all, I already have a mortgage on my own home but recently got married, my wife has never had a mortgage and we wondered wether or not she could still use her help to buy isa and be entitled to first time buyers mortgages if we to remortgage my home but with her name on it now also?
I hope that makes sense
Many thanks

No your wife would be a first time buyer but you already own a property so getting a remortgage won't qualify for first time buyer deals or help to buy0

Okay thank you ,
is there any way we can benefit from her being a first time buyer or would it require me selling my house and buying another along side her?0 -

She can use her ISA if you bought another property, but the bonus would likely be eaten up in buying and selling fees, and then some.
First time buyer mortgages aren't really a thing. Each lender has its own criteria and most are available to all anyway.
You wouldnt get the stamp duty relief, you could use Help to Buy if you chose as that is not just for first time buyers.0 -
Okay, thanks for the time replying, looks like it’s something we will miss out on, I missed it first time round when buying and so will she
Thanks again0
