Joined Prolific this year but they need a mobile phone number to verify the account. What do you do if you don't have one?

For me the SMS helps build your "trust" but you should still be able to do surveys?

Why dont you ask them if there is another way?

I did a study a few days ago which asked for my email address - I gave them the Prolific version of my email rather than my !!!8216;real!!!8217; one. They have now contacted me to say I have been awarded a 10p bonus (whooppee) but also asking me to transcribe 40 Captchas for no additional pay.

Is it me, or is that a bit cheeky?!

Actually, the more I think about it the more cross I get. It seems that they have used Prolific to gather a very cheap database of people who might work for 10p! I have forwarded it to Kendra.

I did that study too. I gave my Prolific email and like you I've been contacted and asked to transcribe 40 catchpas for a bonus of £0.1:eek:

I couldn't decide if they were offering 10p or 1p. I decided not to take up the offer :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I had this come up but it said it needed to check eligibility and I needed to complete my pre-screeners. (I don't bother with them anymore as they effect visual ping every 5 mins). I've not had that happen before I've only ever had eligible studies appear on the home page. Completed about a million pre-screening questions and the blinking survey disappeared after all that!

Yes it had a ridiculously short maximum completion time. You normally get at least twice the amount of time they think it will take.
