    Hosted by L H
    £1.00 10 minutes £6.00/hr
Another fraudulent underpaying survey by the same researcher at shanghai university prolific claim 10 min/ researcher claims 15min...takes at least 25min
Complained last time and got 20pence extra off the researcher!
    Submitted another ticket to prolific.

Incidentally, the original study said there would be a bonus for doing well in the task, and I presume that's what the 20p extra was, rather than any concession towards the main payment having been so egregiously low.

A new study has now been posted, "Please attend to this longitudinal survey" hosted by L H, £1 for 10 minutes. On starting, it became very quickly apparent that it was a second round of the same survey as mentioned above, and the first page this time said it would take 25 minutes. So it appears the researcher has just re-registered using a different name and is doing the same thing again.
I got caught by it again - it took me nearly 25 minutes.  I  complained to the researcher and said I felt I should be paid £2.50 instead of £1.00, and I also raised a ticket with Prolific saying the same thing, and pointing out that if the researcher is ripping off over 300 people to the tune of £1.50 a head they must be pocketing a fair amount.

On the opening page of the survey, it said "This survey contains several different tasks and will take you approximately 20 minutes."  Assuming this was a error, I continued;  but it took over 20 minutes - in fact, it took me about 26 minutes.

I stopped without completing and explained this situation in the feedback box. I hope they will take more decisive action this time. As they have been in contact with the researcher regarding the first study, the fact they've just changed their name and repeated the offence seems pretty clear evidence of a deliberate intent to deceive.
I reported this and returned the study. As soon as I opened it it said it would take 25 minutes to complete. The researcher also messaged me advising that they had a new study and I responded , letting them know that as they were underestimating the amount of time taken i wouldn’t be participating. Also fed this feedback to prolific when I returned it.

The researcher has "approved" my submission, without even a 20p bonus - just taking the money and running, I guess!

Proilfic did nothing on the last survey...I'm going to drop a message to the shanghai university about this researcher (plenty of time on my hands :) ) gives prolific a bad name,,,,,, needs to be named and shamed.

They're not just ripping off Prolific people - the survey asked for an MTurk number (clearly the researcher didn't bother to edit this) so they are ripping off Amazon Mechanical Turk people too.

I also got caught by this study as I didn't realise initially it was the same person. I must admit that when Prolific replied to me saying they would make his ban permanent if he didn't resolve the issue with the first study (which I had complained about), I assumed there would be nothing to stop him re-registering so didn't feel that was an appropriate disincentive to him. Didn't expect it so quickly though. Have raised it with Prolific again but I expect all they will say they can do is 'ban' them.
