I'll be looking closely at their unleaded price though. Round my way they're a good 2p/l more than Asda. Shame the supermarkets don't do BOGOF on litres of fuel. Can you imagine the rush!!

Good spot but would you like to change the title to the 27th not the 17th?

I got this email too, but supermarket fuel makes my engine management light flash randomly (which usually indicates a v serious problem). Cost me £40 and a lot of stress to find out via diagnostics at a Ford dealership :-(

    Cheaper elsewhere anyway!! :-)

Catt, is this the problem where the light flashes four times, then pause, then four times, the pause, etc.? I had this with my old Escort and it turned out to be the seat belt pre-tensioner under the seat. I can't think how supermarket fuel could be the problem otherwise 50% of the cars on the road would have the same experience.

PM me about this if you want some more info about what I (simply) did to resolve this. Might save you £40 next time!

thanks for the tip, I went and filled up today to get the double nectar points. Everybody else seemed to have had the same idea at the same time though as the queues were much longer than normal

    Hi MarcGC,

No, the engine management light flashed very randomly - sometime for 5 secs sometimes for 30 (always inthe morning , always half an hour into my journey and usually only on a Monday.) Was told by a Ford dealership that it indicated a very serious problem and not to drive it home (20 miles) but to take it to the nearest garage (5 miles) Apparantly no problem found by the diagnostics team, and purely for money saving reasons I have stopped using Supermarket petrol for the last 5 weeks - no flashes. (Put a fiver worth in when i was stranded from my cheap garage of Sainsburys fuel and my light flashed again.)

So just staying away from it. Sainsburys round here currently 2p more expensive than other garages anyway!
