Hi,
I bank with the yorkshire bank, ive gone to them to get 7k to pay out my ex and take her name of the mortgage. I was never told by them that there would be a fee for this and it all sounding dodgy. I asked her when she asked for the money what is it for and she said the 7k (they put this on mortgage as like an additional payment not a loan for some reason - so now i have 90k mortgage fixed 3.1% till march 2018 and 7k variable at 4.8% i said it if you had told me this then id have got a loan at 2.9%
Anyway she then messaged back, saying its for taking her name of the mortgage
So i wrote back what if she goes back on it all and dosent agree to take her name of the mortgage
To which she replied its for the name and the 7k.. it all seems contradicting
Im also paying my solicitor 600 quid to sort it out and take her name of the mortgage
So what on earth is going on?
Thanks alot
Dave

That isn't a fee, it sounds like the early repayment penalty to settle the mortgage product early.
If that's the case, you might as well remortgage to another lender and get a market leading rate.

I recently completed a change of parties and took a name off the mortgage. There was no early resettlement fee as we were out of the fixed term, solicitors fee was £640.
Hope that helpsDebt Free 03 Dec 2014/£25k repaid
