Employer paid for my travel to work - do I need to declare?

Hi Everyone,

I'm a bit confused and wonder if you can help!

I was employed last year by a company who paid for and arranged my train season ticket for my travel from home to work.

According to HMRC's website the employer needs to declare this on their P11D, but I cannot find out of this is something that I need to declare as well? And if so, does anyone know if I'm just paying NIC's on the amount or if I would be paying tax as well?

Would be very grateful for any insight as the tax return deadline is looming!

Many thanks,

Mary
