Thunderbird won't sent aol emails

Yes, I purchase email services that gives me addresses that are very personal to me, but I also use a range of free addresses for both personal and anonymous use, and AOL hasn't been among the providers that I would consider for the latter for a long time.

You just need to login to your AOL email via the website and access email there. I think it wants you to verify your info and then it all works in Thunderbird again.

It had issues with mine though, I had a staff account and it still couldnt verify my details.

Your settings for receiving from your AOL are fine but change the Thunderbird outgoing SMTP settings for your AOL account to use the following:

Outgoing server = relay.plus.net

Outgoing port = 587

SSL/TLS = NO

SMTP authentication = Yes

I tried this this afternoon and it worked, thank you very much thorganby. I am very pleased as I can now access all my emails in Thunderbird on my laptop as before.

Thanks for replying, forgotmyname. I tried - by logging in to AOL via the website and following your directions. Unfortunately it did not work and Thunderbird still would not send emails from my aol address.

The settings thorganby suggested have worked perfectly and I am now pleased to be back where I started. Thunderbird now sends AOL emails.

Verify your SMTP outgoing email settings
Verify the correct SMTP Server is being used
Delete SMTP Password
Reset SMTP Password
