Hello all,
Does anyone have any experience of working for Arise? I have done this sort of work before, but I don't know anything about this company, so I'm wondering what the work and pay is like etc.
Thanks in advance.

I worked for them for a few months as a Sky Concierge, my experiences are 2-3 years old so things may have changed.
The pay is minimum wage, or slightly over.
You will need to take a training course that can be a few weeks long, unpaid, in fact you will probably have to pay to take the course, it's not much usually £20 or so.
You will need to set up a limited company as they will only contract to you through that vehicle, it's pretty simple to do and doesn't cost much to do.
You will need to meet certain minimum standards ie broadband has to be a certain speed, your computer has to be certain spec etc.
You will need certain equipment, ie a certain type of phone and headset etc.
The work is generally simple but due to that it gets very repetitive very quickly.
I was doing 15 hours a week (had a full time job) so was earning about £400 a month working evenings, I could pick and choose my hours but towards the end of the time I struggled to get hours as they ones I wanted were not available.
You will need to sort our your tax and NI.
Their systems are extremely unreliable but they do pay if you cannot work due to their technical issue.
Pay was paid reliably with no quibbles.
Personally it was too much effort and too much of a chore for the money, look at Appen Butler Hill instead, I now work for them.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -
Hi Dad 2 two monsters, my partner worked for Npower through Arise for a few months last year.
He had to pay to do a training course for the Npower systems (although last time he looked he said they were offering to pay people to do it, there's clearly a very fast turn around of staff), the training lasted 3 or 4 weeks I think.
He signed up with them with the hope of working for Apple, but they cancelled their contract last year - and it seems to be only Npower jobs advertised through them.
The issues he had were with Npower rather than Arise, no support from the technical support staff, was being sworn at and having people cry on the phone to him who couldn't pay their bills; a call might go an hour over your booked time slot which you won't be paid for...... he hated it and didn't seem worth it for what was working out under minimum wage.
Glad I read this thread as I'll be directing him to Appen Butler Hill as suggested by scaredofdebt!0 -
Thanks so much everyone! Sorry, I didn't realise I hadn't replied! :-/
I'm currently applying to both companies, so we will see.....
How has working for AppenButlerHill worked out @scaredofdebt ?0 -
Beans27's post explains a great deal about nPower's customer service. No reflection on your OH at all, Beans27 but I can't see anyone staying in that job long.0
