This still penalises those who live away from a station without a TVM or booking office if their isn't the option of collecting off a guard on the train.

Mobile ticketing should (eventually) resolve this.

And for those without or who live in an area that does not have adequate internet availability or is located in WIFI blackspots?
How about Free Post or at least standard delivery to those who do not live next to stations that allow you to collect?

If you don't have internet access then you're probably not buying tickets online in the first place, are you?

You can get the tickets delivered for £1 when buying through the Cross Country trains website, as long as you're booking at least 7 days prior to travel. Maybe that's what you missed?

The margins on tickets is very small.

Why should the remainder of ticket purchasers absorb higher prices to cover your free postage and packing.

  • Whether you can collect at TVM or Booking Office depends on the retail systems used by the station operator, not the website you book on. All the websites feed into the same Ticket On Departure system.

Some station operators choose not to pay for the software to offer ToD on their TVMs or Booking Office systems (which are often different systems from different suppliers).
