Do any Local Banks have Switching Perks?

Hi All,

I never really hear any perks on offer from local banks in terms of switching bonuses. My question is do Ulster Bank, Bank of Ireland or Danske have any perks on offer for customers who switch to their accounts?

Thanks

  • I not sure of any of the 'local' banks do but I noticed at lunchtime that HSBC on Royal Avenue in Belfast are offering £200 to 'switch & stay'.

Local banks listed offer little. I don't understand why anyone would bank with them when other high street banks offer so much more (in relative terms).

Because, unlike the other high street banks, the local banks have a presence in many of the smaller towns around the North.

My nearest town has ulster bank, the next nearest has a first trust (and possibly a danske?)

The nearest "other" high street bank is 12 mile away.

I agree. Particularly if you live in Belfast, there's a wide range of banks - why bank with the local ones? They offer no switching perks and almost zero interest on deposits and savings.

For many national banks the post office can fulfil many of the most common services that you might need to go to the branch for. Is that an option for you? I can find no good reason to stick with any of the local banks.

edit: my nearest branch of any bank is 11 miles away. But the post office is a quarter of a mile. My husband uses it for his business banking too - lodging takings, cheques etc.
