Increase Pension Payments?

I paid off my mortgage off a few months ago and promised myself I would save some of the money I used to use for the mortgage. I am 45 have a Group Personal Pension Plan with L&G (value only £40000 at the moment). My regular contribution (including employers contribution) is £320 per month. I have £300 to spare. Are there any other means to save for retirement except for the Group Pension?. I was going to pay an extra £100 - £150 into the pension but I cannot pay directly from my bank account. I do not want to go through my employers as they do not put the money into Pension until three months after it has been taken out of my wage. The company has been doing this for the last three years and I have had letters from L&G when they have just stepped over the three months! I can put money into my pension but that requires sending L&G a cheque.

Are there any other means to save for retirement except for the Group Pension?.

SIPP, stakeholder and personal pension covers the pension products and MAXI ISA or MINI stocks and shares ISA covers the other.
