:rotfl: We have a very generous renewal system ,you can renew loans 8 times ,so for around 6 months altogether,if no one wants the book
I usually plan my reads for the whole year in advance,so whenever I see a suitable book I grab it to read later. Otherwise it means paying a resrvation fee of 40p. Trying to be frugal, saving those fees by stacking up the reads in the cupboard till I'm in the mood.
And actually,if you have had all 9 borrowings,if you return the book physically and noone wants it,you can borrow it again and start the cycle again!:)
I did that once for the book Goodnight Moon for the Imp,my granddaughter who loved that book when she was tiny.I finally bought a copy at Xmas, and gave it to her parents so that THEY could read it to her daily, and listen to the dreaded word ''again!''. I'm sure 6 years later I could still probably recite the whole darn book.:rotfl:

I have been sorting some family history. You have to be a bit of a detective finding out your info. Was frustrated with not being able to sort out my father's christening date. Its the only info missing on his chart. He was the 5th of 6 children and I can find the details of all the other five's baptism record, but for some mysterious reason not my father!:mad:
Also trying to sort out my mother's brother's life. I met him a couple of times while young, then he died while I was living abroad. By time I came to study family genealogy, all the people who could have helped me were deceased. Its taken a lot of patient work, even guesswork to get to the position now where I have enough info to apply for a birth certificate . Dates on there may link to a lot of facts that cant be added to his chart without some proof.
Cant wait to see if I am on the right track!:)

Busy day, went in torrential rain for my final mammogram. They had to redo a couple of plates because a hand could clearly be seen on two of them!:)
I had been lucky hitting straight onto two buses,I had allowed extra time expecting to be waiting in between so I got there very early, and was pleased when they slotted me in 20 mins early. Afterwards I reached the bus stop as my bus pulled in,and at the connecting bus stop my bus was ready to leave so I got home about an hour earlier than I expected. As a result I was just in time to collect my stuff for the family history and run to the place, where I got my usual £2 coin haul from my friend. I rarely get any from shopping, dont know where all the coins have disappeared to!:)That makes 33 coins,£66.And had £20 for the credit union Also located that info about my uncle so it was a successful if very wet day
I got soaked going and returning and despite it being my 48th wedding anniversary today when me and Mr Dusty were supposed to go out to a chinese restaurant,I just couldnt face the torrents of rain on yet a third outing,so we stayed in and ordered a chinese takeaway, which suited me fine.
Dear me,48 years, with no time off for good behaviour.............
Oh dear, eating chinese, especially the rice, with Slimming World weigh in tomorrow a.m.:eek:If its very bad news in the morning I can always put it off till Friday morning,in the faint hope that the rice bloating will subside a little........
Off to bed now,its been a frenetic day rushing about in the rain.My new umbrella got blown inside out at least twice!
hmm, when am I going to get ahead with posting my daily tasks in advance?Never seems to happen now Mr Dusty is back.:rotfl:

Lost 2lb this week at SW:j
That brings me back to what I was at the end of January,3st 13 lbs lost.Maybe I can lose that final pound before I go to see the DN next Wednesday? Can but try.
After SW I popped into Ald!s,only 2 mins walk away. Ended up spending £24 with two full bags.Couldnt go anywhere else, was too laden down,so I still have to get out and find caustic soda. All the hardware shops closed down,Wilko's shelf is empty,so I will try the b&m store,15 mins away by bus,but now the sun is shining it will be a quick trip. I passed it yesterday and no way was I going to get off the bus and march through the floods in that torrential downpour. I'm sure I saw Noah outside loading up stuff to build his ark!:rotfl:

Morning all, lovely sunshine but still nippy.
    tasks today:
+Already done the hob,but need to do the microwave, mop the floor and do the bathroom. Mr Dusty is having salmon today,I am going to make my big pan of soup. I had lots of chocolate yesterday from my anniversary on Wednesday, and dont want to undo the good work.Kept nibbling cheese all day yesterday,a sure sign that I had had too much carbs, which always set off cravings. If I eat healthily I dont bother with snacks but once I start its hard to stop......(sigh)......
+ must climb the ladder and scrub the tile splashback behind the hob. Not been done since before the health debacle of February and March, climbing ladders is a no-no when you're worried about setting off a vertigo attack. The tiles reach up to a level of about 6ft 6ins,and its amazing how high grease can go!:oThe ladder has been outside in all this rotten weather, its going to need a good clean before I can start :(
The grouting is looking distinctly dingy, but that will be another time.
+get out for a walk today if the weather doesnt change!
+finish choosing books for my Birth Flower book challenge. More later on that.

Never got on here yesterday. Got most of the tasks I mentioned on Friday done. Managed not to fall off the ladder when cleaning the tiles, they look lovely and sparkley now. Went to b&m and got something for unblocking the sink at last, and now the drains are running freely thank goodness.Sure enough the ladder was yucky because of the blocked gutter on the roof. There is a huge tree about 40 yards from me,and the leaves at the end of autumn often block it up Through the winter the blockage moves little by little towards my house, the second in the terrace. The water starts overflowing and dirty leaves come down. The ladder was covered in gunge and needed a thorough cleaning.:(
Last time I asked the council to clear the gutters because of leaves falling from their tree on the council park they said they couldnt because of Health and Safety, they would need to put up scaffolding and it was dangerous in the winter and rain!.For decades a man would climb a ladder and scoop out the rubbish by hand, but not today!:mad:Anyhoo I now have clean tiles and a clean ladder.
I know I intend to do declutter over the weekend. Only thing achieved so far is I went through my chest of drawers chucking out old clothes, arranging the drawers neatly.I opened a couple of drawers in the spare room and hastily shut them again. Lots of kids stuff from the Angel and the Imp,plus a zillion wires, cords, aerial wires etc etc etc. There are loads of them all over the house from Mr Dusty, and DS2, who has returned to live at home at irregular intervals, brings all his stuff, and leaves much of it when he leaves again. I have drawers, cupboards and an attic chockablock with his things which he orders me not to throw away.:eek:
One of my daydreams is having everything belonging to him removed, and then having the money to build built in wardrobes with all sorts of hidden shelves and drawers and cupboards which could store a multitude of stuff .Oh for a place for everything and everything in its place. I love checking out Ikea and B&Q adds showing storage solutions......chance would be a fine thing.....no money and the males in my family are serious packrats, and also messy with it.....(sigh)......It will never come to pass.
Never got round to genealogy sorting either, except for one small file. I need to go through everything, sort it all into orderly files, and check for missing items I need to discover. Then it all needs rewriting. The forms etc are all full of different coloured ink, crossings out, underlinings, query marks etc. Its a mess! I've got to keep in mind that my subscription for local records runs out in June, want to check out nearly 100 peoples records:eek::eek:
At least I've been for my walk this afternoon,30 mins. Started out marching downhill as quick as I could and then had the uphill stretch on return. Legs were slightly wobbly(well, morelike wet noodles) but I feel the better for it. Am yawning, feel like a doze, but I'm off to make Mr Dusty's tea.
