Can a company give you a verbal warning for being off sick 3 times in a year even though you have letters from dr saying that you were ill and on prescription medicine. each time you were off work.

Yes.
They can also dismiss you on capability grounds if your sickness reaches a level they consider to be unsustainable. They're not saying you're making it up. They're saying however genuine your sickness is, from a financial perspective they can't afford to carry you through continuous absences.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Of course they can. They need to prevent excessive absence. Everyone can give a good reason for being absent from work.0

Every company will have its own rules around sickness absence. They may limit the number of days or the number of separate absences - or both. My last employer had disciplinary process kick in after either 8 days total or 4 period of absence. If the 4 absence periods were only 1 day each, disciplinary process would still kick in.
Having medical evidence made no difference to the disciplinary process being initiated, but certainly could affect the outcome of the process.0 -

Depending on your company`s procedure It is probably the 3 separate occasions that has got you
The last place i worked at if you had 1 occasion of say 3 weeks off you would be fine but 3 occasions of 1 week each would mean disciplineHave a nice day

My organisation is five separate occasions over a year and you get a verbal warning.Debt-free by January 1st, 2019.
