Shortcut icons defaulting to 'details' view

I have multiple folders on my win10 desktop as I like it to be organised, containing shortcuts to various programs or docs etc in categories...
I had them in view all as 'large icons' as I find this the easiest to view and browse them all..
Recently my PC did the latest auto windows update and rebooted overnight..
Since this, all these shortcuts in all folders now default to 'details view', I can right click and change them back to "large icons", but even if I close that window and go back to it a few mins later, they have all gone back to details view again.
I must change them to large icons every time I open one of the folders, but next time I go back into it, they are back to details view again...
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to stop it, i've tried everything.
Even deleted the folder and made a new one with all new shortcuts but this still does it...

Have you done this.
Open up Windows Explorer.
Click on 'Desktop' so the desktop opens in the right hand pane.
Open up one folder and set it the way you want it to be.
Then select 'View'.
Select 'Options' at the right hand side.
Choose 'Change Folders and View options'.
Select 'View'. Then, in 'Folder Views', select 'Apply to folders'.
That should set all folders on the desktop to your chosen layout.0 -
