Fake employment details in an application..Rejected...

Online Fraud application ? ?

My nephew was applying for some loans online, and on the Barclays online loan they entered everything correct (address, name, outgoings)

BUT employment details he made up, so it looked like he had a firm job (he just got the company + address from a uk website, to show he worked there)

Don’t ask me why he entered the fake details..

This was silly of him I know, and I advised him not to.- as I know, it is fraud.

The application process. he got accepted for the loan, then after 3 days it got cancelled because they couldn’t confirm employment details...They asked for payslips + bank statements to be sent...

He obviously doesn't want to go ahead and is happy to cancel it, but he's wondering can he get caught legally by this? or should he just stay low?

or if the Employment he put, got a letter from the bank and they say NO, HE DOESN'T WORK HERE to the bank, what could possibly happen

(and I have said to him he was silly to do it)
Should he stay low?

Any Legal advice ?

What’s the worse that can happen?

Comments

  • He has been extremely stupid and expect him not to get credit for a very long time as it is near certainty that a CIFAS flag will be put on his file.
If he does nothing Barclays may well do nothing but will reserve the right to contact the police if they think that they were going to be defrauded.

The best thing he can do is contact Barclays and say he has changed his mind and no longer wants to borrow the money.

This just might stop them reporting him.
