Contact end date

Any advice on the below situation would be appreciated:

I handed in my notice on 2 October 2017. I had to give 2 calendar months notice and I put in writing to them that I would be terminating my employment of 2 December.

When I received my final salary, they have ended my contract on 11 November, without informing me, and without paying outstanding accrued leave. I did not know they had moved my end date until I got my final salary. I was on leave at the time as I had quite a bit of leave owing.

What would you do?
Thank you

To be clear 2 months notice would’ve been 1st December but yes ask them.

Firstly make contract and ask them to check they haven't made a mistake.

Then a letter before action. Outline what you feel is correct and give a deadline for them to respond.

If that fails then you can take them to court.

Have they paid your salary up until 11th Nov and your accrued holidays take you up until the 2nd Dec?

  • No they haven't paid my accrued leave! I put my notice in writing saying I wanted to terminate my employment on 2nd December, which they agreed. I did state that I had some leave that I would take prior to that date. Without informing me, they brought the date forward and terminated my contract from 11th November.
