I’ve paid £3000 approx off the outstanding mortgage so I don’t think it’s fair I hand him half of that money when it sells, but as it says further down a good solicitor is needed which in turn could be costly and cost more than what it’s worth. I’m just trying to be fair and have a good start for myself and my 2 children.
Can only iterate again consult a solicitor. You've children to support and provide a home for. The law is therefore very much on your side. The financial settlement needs to formalised. Your solicitor will guide you through the process and be the interface to your ex.0 -
I don't think its unreasonable for you to want to keep the contributions you have made this year. Have you put this idea to him? If he agrees then you may not need a solicitor.
I guess it would also be useful to have the property valued to see what you can expect to make at sale. Also maybe talk to your mortgage lender to see if there would be any penalties involved in selling before your current deal expires early?0
