I am wondering if the rules and guidelines have cracked down recently on this? Few years back I saw a few people making there home numbers into premium numbers, but upon looking up this subject, the only posts I can seem to find is from 5+ years ago...
Is this still a thing people can do? Going round my parents today, I have answered 3 cold call numbers in 1 day which is what has put this back in my mind lmao

Technically, it is still a thing and very much possible. However, it probably won't be profitable. There's a fee to register with the body, PhonePayPlus, that is over £100, as well as the cost of renting the number.
Additionally, you could be landing yourself in hot water. It's on the numbers' operator to inform callers before they call that there's an additional charge for calling, at a premium rate. It's unlikely you'd be able to inform cold callers of this, thus being in breach of the registration you just completed with PhonePayPlus that cost over £100, with now having the potential of fines levied against you.
I wouldn't recommend it.0 -
Easier just to get a phpone that can block cold callers and yes they do work

Most phone companies now offer free services for blocking cold calls. They're by no means perfect, but do help a lot.
