Hey,
I've recently decided i want to move on from my current job, but i've been here since for 10 years (Since i was 18) So my current CV skills aren't exactly up to date!
I've got an extremely basic CV saved, but i'm struggling what to put down in the Key Skills part that isn't already in my job description? Also, do i need a personal summary? Or is that the some thing as key skills?
Lastly! In 2016 i got a promotion, to management/supervising, but how should i show that on the CV? The job description for the previous 8 or so years is already in described in the Supervisor role, i just wasn't doing the management side of it.
A screenshot of my current draft is below, i've had to split it due to post restrictions.
Thanks for any help!

Ok, so everyone has CV advice, and everyone is both right and wrong. It's a lot of personal taste involved, you're trying to convince 1 or 2 people you don't know to interview you.
My 2p, with the caveat I couldn't see your CV image!
Your job descriptions are just taking up space. You don't want to convince me to hire anyone who has your job role, you want me to hire YOU. The best most supportive boss ever and an utter clown have the same job description.
Long service at a company is fine as long as your cover letter gives me a brief but convincing rationale why you'd rather work for me. (NEVER why you don't want to work for them.)
Achievements > Job titles
"Supervisor, responsible for managing 10 staff"
Vs
"Supervisor who helped my team of 10 achieve 15% sales growth"
Numbers are your friend
"Call operator taking customer calls for orders"
Vs
"Call operator handling around 150 calls a day taking orders of an average £10,000"
Key skills =|= list of adjectives. "Hard-working" yuck
Personal statement a must.
Ok, brief rant over! Happy to support further later!Union official.

Anything I post is solely MY OPINION. It never constitutes legal, financial or collective bargaining advice. I may tell you based on information given how I might approach an employment dispute case, but you should always seek advice from your own Union representative. If you don't have one, get one!0 -

Summary is an absolute must. Chances are it'll be the only bit that's read, at least on the first sifting.
Don't make it difficult for hirers to see what you have to offer. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -

Are the dates of working at McD a mistake? 2006-2006? What happened 2006 to 2016?
Any hobbies or volunteering that can show off your talent?
What type of job are you going for? What are the job requirements- make sure you show off that you tick their boxes in your CV."No likey no need to hit thanks button!":pHowever its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:0 -
Hey,
Thanks for the advice, i'll make sure to incorporate the ideas!
Nope, the addresses aren't a mistake, sorry i didn't explain it correctly. Basically i've been working for the same company since 2007 (After i'd left mcdonald's)
I was a logistics operative from 2007 until 2016, in 2016 i was promoted to logistics supervisor. I'm not really sure how's best to note that? Would i just state
2007-2016; Logistics operative - Duties etc.
Then
2016-Present; Logistics Supervisor, doing the same duties as Logistics operative with the addition of XYZ etc....?

I got made redundant just before Christmas and had a similar problem with Key Skills as they weren't part of a CV last time I did one.
However, as you start job searching and see what skills prospective employees are looking for you will soon get a good idea of what your most powerful skills are. Keep your list to about 5-6 of your best - Organised, Time-management, etc. Include any specialised systems or processes you are particularly proficient in, ie a leading software package in your industry.
It has taken me about 6 weeks of honing to get mine right, but you will get there.0 -
There is no single answer to what you should put on your skill sets. It depends what the job is and you should tailor your CV to who you want to appeal to.0

A personal statement is much more powerful than a list of key skills. I would reference the key skills, linking them to experience, as part of a covering letter myself.Debt-free by January 1st, 2019.
