Hey Dear Diary, want to hear my story?

So - like many people here, I have been a lurker for a few months on MSE site in general and this forum in particular. It amazes me how positive and supportive this group is which is why I now have the courage to do what I am doing and accept that I need to tackle my debt situation head on and hopefully you guys will spur me on to be debt free and stay that way!

A little about me then - I am now 31 years old and I must accept I have had a fairly exciting 20's & have realised its now time to grow up :) Completed my uni, got a job, progressed quite well professionally, travelled a lot (I repeat, a LOTTT!) , met my perfect partner and now happily married. Along the way, I also picked up some debt I could have very well avoided. Whilst on paper, it all seems great , in reality, I am losing my sleep over the amount of debt I have single handedly accumulated. A big dent was made when I borrowed some money to fund the deposit for our home.In hindsight, not the best decision ever as if we had planned better, we would have been in a much better position financially.
I have a few goals & dreams that I'd like to achieve in this wonderful life & being debt free is the first step to make these happen. My long term plan has always been to get out of this 9-5 lifestyle & own a cafe library that serves the 2 most precious things to me - books & an unlimited supply of coffee.

In the next couple of days, I'll create an SOA which will detail where my spendings, loans & CC's are at and I am looking at this wonderful group of people to help me & guide me in making some life altering changes... I have a paper based plan for tackling my debt (which currently stands in the whopping 22k mark!) in 2 years from now. I believe my income can facilitate this if I can manage to stay within means.

Thats all for now , until we meet again soon!

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.
