Maternity and FTC's

My wife has been on an FTC for 3 years and 7 months (due to be made perm in August - she's a teacher). Baby due in September

Her contract expires in around April, it would generally get renewed. We are worried it will not get extended and will affect maternity leave etc

Any advice anyone?

I know this is a duplicate post, but cant find the original.

In anycase, the advice is the same. It would be dismissal if they did not renew, which would need to be fair. (assuming she has had more than 2 years continuous employment)

And why do you think she wont be renewed? Has this been mentioned?

Has she informed the employer of the pregnancy? If not, she should. Protection doesn't kick in unless the employer knows

Let's just the headteacher is not the most trustworthy of people, she was on the wrong pay for 2 years and not told!

It is unlawful to discriminate and dismiss someone based upon a number of characteristics - maternity is one.

I know people come here for advice and all that and happy to help. But she must only just be pregnant, you have a bit of time now to do some research :)
