I've been in this situation a few times, builders are a grateful crew!

If I was about during the day I would make their tea/coffee for them, it was a good time to chat about what was going on. A pot of soup went down well with them, you can put it in their mugs.

Like others I offer tea and coffee and biscuits. Agree with above that they go through a lot of sugar! Also offer bottled water and apples whatever is around. If you put it on a plate and take it out to them it always goes.

At lunchtime I always say that I'm making lunch for me so does anyone want a sandwich while I am at it, generally something simple like cheddar and pickle. Often accepted especially by the younger chaps who often don't seem to bring a proper/big enough lunch.

Treat others as you'd like to be treated yourself and all that ... they always seem chuffed.

How about some Sweetener Tablets if someone can't use sugar.

  • For longer projects stick a post-it with each person's preferred brew details near your kettle to save asking how many sugars etc.
Different colours or designs of mugs saves unnecessary washing up and makes it easy to do a cuppa run if you have the inclination.

When we had a big job done a few years ago, cuppa#1 was on the patio at 8.30 sharp with a biscuit tin ready to welcome the lads as they came round the back lane each morning, it meant we could have a quick chat about what was going on during the day and stay up to speed with progress.
