Paying it off - Will I have any trouble?

I'm getting married next week and my husband will be paying off the mortgage. It's not a huge amount (£40k) and I have spoken to Lloyds Bank about what to do.
The thing is, my partner is a bit of a technophobe and so doesn't have internet banking set up. My original idea was for him to go into our local Lloyds Bank with a cheque but apparently, as his name isn't on the mortgage, he can't do that.
The second idea is for him to give me a cheque for the amount and I pay it into my bank account. Once it has cleared, I will then call Lloyds and pay by debit card.
The problem I'm seeing which might happen is that he banks with Nat West, the mortgage is with Lloyds (used to be C&G) and I bank with First Direct. Will we set off any money laundering alarms? Any way we can do this that's better than any other?
Or am I overthinking it?

For which bit? My partner doesn't have internet banking set up so I assume you mean from my bank to Lloyds bank? Why is that better than me paying over the phone with my debit card?"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
The partnercan go to the branch of his bank and set up a standing order to your account to come out monthly on a set date without him needing to do anything again until he wanted to change something.0

Can't he just transfer by BACS or CHAPS from his account to the mortgage account? Instructed by phone / carrier pigeon / over the counter.0

He's paying the whole lot in one go. I'm now on possession of a cheque payable to me for the whole redemption figure which I will pay into my account in the morning. Once that has cleared, I'll decide whether to call them and pay by debit card (the whole lot) or by one-off bank transfer.
We can prove where he got the money but I didn't want to slow down the process. Nothing monthly required."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Update:
Wedding went ahead. I called First Direct to tell them I'd be spending £40k on my debit card and then called C&G to make the payment. All went through without incident.
