Is it unhealthy to stay with the same company for a long time?

  • I've not been doing exactly the same job for 8 years, I've had a few pay rises and a couple of promotions. When it comes to doing new things, my thoughts are what can I do to increase my earning potential rather than actually wanting to do them.

I guess when I do new things I don't find it particularly exciting, it's still work at the end of the day.

I've known several people to leave my current workplace to go and do exactly the same thing with a competitor but for more money.

I've always said that if my only way of getting a six figure salary was to be a dustbin man then I'd be a dustbin man, as much as I'd hate to be one.

Was at the same place for 37 years ,Hated most of it due to shifts / Travel / Incompetent managers / Forced overtime etc etc but with a mortgage and 2 kids needs must

But glad i stuck it out as joined the pension scheme in 1981 and when the company offered to let me transfer it out it meant i could leave at 56 and be drawing down nearly as much as i was earning and that will last to at least when i am 85

The grass isnt always greener as they say
    Have a nice day :)
