Question re NI/State pension

Do you earn under the LEL?
With regard to your state pension forecast, have a look at the facsimile state pension forecast towards the end of this article

Using that format, what does yours say?0 -
Probably not. If you are 2 years short now of having a full state pension you will remain 2 years short. The time frame doesn't lengthen. Does your pension statement say you currently have 33 qualifying years? Does it show you what you would receive now and at age 66 (it should).
As stated above you may have some part paid years which you could pay the shortfall for. You may only be a few weeks short on some of the older years. If you can give us more information as to what your statement says we may be able to help you
It shows I have 41 full years apparently!!!!!! But then says I had 2 years not full back in the 70's, and the 2016/2017 year I paid nothing at all as I now only earn about £40 a week.
It says I need to contribute 2 years before 2023 to be able to get my full pension of £159 a week. Otherwise it says based on my contributions so far, I would only get £152 a week. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. So with 41 years you cannot purchase any pre 2016 years to make up - the forecast may show you can purchase them but doing so will not add to your pension.
As the forecast says, you need to purchase 2 more years to make that £152 up to £159. You have a few years to do that so no rush, the only downside being the cost increases by CPI every year.0 -
