Newcastle BS - Offer Extension

Hi All,
I have a mortgage offer from Newcastle which expires mid-March. I heard from our builders at the weekend that the completion date is now edging closer to the end of March first week of April.
Does anyone have any experience extending a mortgage offer with Newcastle or other lending due to new build delays. Just wondering how easy it is to do this and what to expect.
We went through a broker however, the paperwork from Newcastle states that the solicitor should be the one to request an extension, I queried this with our solicitor and she is under the impression it should be the broker. Can anyone confirm this?

Your broker will need to apply for an extension with Newcastle.
They are usually pretty flexible...I am a Mortgage Broker.
