Basically, yes, or replace some of the flour with breadcrumbs and add herbs/spices/seasonings to taste"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I think as long as you stick to the half-fat to dry ingredients rule then you can basically use what you like ... flour/breadcrumbs/oats etc ... and flavour them accordingly to suit sweet or savoury dishes. This was the impression I got when searching for a chicken crumble recipe a little while back anyway, and cooking is all about experimenting and trying new things, as long as the basics are right"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

When you have got your recipe adapted to the way you like it you can make double the amount next time and freeze the rest. If you have a processor you can get loads mixed ready to go. While you have the machine in use you can get pastry mix ready too, (this is half fat to flour) when you need it you will just add the water and mix in.0

Yes but then CQ beat me to it:p For savoury dishes I always add oats, mixed herbs and cheese (but then I stick cheese in everything) HTHLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

Once when I fancied an apple crumble, I used some cooked apple and crushed up some honey nut cornflakes, put them on top and bunged it under the grill for 5 to 10 minutes. It made a nice alternative to normal crumble topping.A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0
