Fiscal Fast

I find having 2 days a week where I can spend means I’ve got to work out what is needed and get shopping - fill petrol etc all in one day then the rest of the week I should have everything I need and no reason to pop out for milk or nip out to look at curtains and come home with £80 worth of stuff .... Good Luck!
Thanks Tink x"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 3
Yesterday was not a no spend day but I really thought about whether it was a need or a want! My challenge is to be realistic and sensible so I did buy presents for my husband's birthday and a few presents for (ahem) Christmas.
Monday was definitely a day for my money to work hard for it's keep.
Another good day "One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Do you wanna build a snowman?
We have only had heavy rain and hail stones but it is very unusual for Cornwall to have snow"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 4
Tuesday 16th - another excellent day of watching what I spend.
As I am self employed I use Bookers and they can have some awesome RTC and yesterday was no exception  An example was a 2.5kg of mushrooms for £1.50
Along with another Christmas present bought, I did treat myself to an art deco colouring book which although not absolutely necessary will save money in other ways! (See below)
My hubby and I MUST cut back on going out and we have discussed what we can do that is free or very cheap. We live in a beautiful part of Cornwall so walking is going to play a major part but we are also looking at varying what we do on rainy winter nights - hence the colouring book!
We also spent a fiver on a locals pass for Tate St Ives which gives us a year's free entry so along with our National Trust membership I think we're sorted.
Thanks again for your encouragement and also helping me to keep my shopaholic tendencies in check as I know I will have to admit any disgressions on here!:rotfl:"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
I'll join in TM6 if I may as I really want to build up some savings and also pay a bit extra off the mortgage if I can. For the first time really I have set myself a grocery budget and am really trying to stick to it. For total spends I thought I was also doing ok but then I remembered the dog is booked in for his annual jabs on Saturday which I haven't budgeted for so not sure yet how much they will cost but they may well affect things!
Lucky you living in such a lovely part of the UK!0 -

That would be brilliant Maiden Mum
Isn't it frustrating when an unbudgeted bill is a curve ball for your plans. On the positive side, at least you have the money"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 5
Well I really do have my eye on the prize - my daughter and her fiancee have booked their flights for her wedding in New York in October!
So now to be a super saver rather than a shopaholic!
Only necessary shopping yesterday - I'm happy with that!"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 6
Rather than writing up how I have done on a previous day, I have decided to write up my fiscal diary on the the actual day
So my only spend today was a £1 for 10 birthday cards at Card Factory. :T
Another good day - how is everyone else doing?"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0
