Buy to let mortgage advice

Hi we are looking to extend our btl mortgage which is in my husband's name. When we approached NatWest they refused him a mortgage. He also has a joint mortgage with me and a loan. He has no CCJs, been bankrupt or has a credit card. Natwest took the details of the joint mortgage and loan but not my salary. When they considered a joint btl mortgage and took my salary into account, it was approved. This doesn't seem right that they didn't at least half the joint mortgage and loan when it was just my husband applying? Can anyone he'll please?

you are both fully responsible for the current mortgage...there is no 50% due from you and 50% from him so they would need to assess his full liabilities which is 100% of the mortgage0

Your husband has liability for the full mortgage not just half. The mortgage being granted on a joint and several basis. This means that the one party are potentially liable for the full amount if the other isn't.0
