Yesterdays beef stew was lovely, enough left over but will have tomorrow. The recipe said to add a spoonful of Golden Syrup, which I did, and it makes a huge difference, it also said white wine (cheapo) but I put in a drop of Tawny port which was hanging about, gives me headache now I am older.Having sardines on toast, use up last of loaf, for lunch today and have micro'd a potato to scoop out innereds, add some red onion and mash then put back in to have with a buttered chicken (out of freezer, ages old) for tonight, will do some cougette strips to go with that. Off to hospital with daughter tomorrow for 12 mth check up on hip replacement, will ask ref knee next then that will be all 4 joints done.0

I have the concert today.:A I am going to have Pizza Express later. I've only had a smoothie this morning.:)
I probably will have something else before I go out.0 -
Been out. Wasn't in the "mood" for food shopping as such. Also, I can't add anything to the freezer as I should be defrosting it (CBA yet).... so no frozen chips for example.
I went into Mr T and found the 14p noodles. On the basis they're small/lightweight I stocked up with 8 packets as they'd not be difficult to add to the existing food stores to be packed up and either moved or put into storage. Also got a loaf of white bread from there, as I was in there and I have no bread in the house. I also grabbed 48 cans of fizzy pop as I'll be busy this week and will wish I had it to hand. Should be enough to last the next couple of weeks. That's branded, so a "treat" I've been buying myself this last month, because I'm worth it
Popped into L1dl and emerged with a 6-pack of sausage rolls, pack of jelly babies and pack of choc covered raisins. Looked for the Walls sausages but they had been in the "when it's gone it's gone" area and they'd all gone
Lunch is: some choc covered raisins + some jelly babies.
Later on I'll reheat a couple of the sausage rolls.0 -
Lunch became fried YS mushrooms on toast, and a very nice change it was
It's really hot out in the sun, pottered in garden, a few more apples and snacked on the raspberries.
I tried one of my new grapes, only testing as they are not really ripe yet. Small, sharp & a pip in. It was impulse buy in Wilko so not surprised.
I think I'll need to investigate juicing grapes without standing on them in a bucket;)
Just answered my own question, simple when you know how. Just for info https://www.wikihow.com/Make-Grape-JuiceNumerus non sum0 -
@DundeeDoll , that sausage casserole recipe looks quite awesome.
I found myself looking at various other 'easy for me' recipes too.
@PN , Not really in a shop mood either but I dragged myself out to get a few small bits, as usual I came back with more. It was just as well they did not ahve any instant mash left (again, sells quick as its cheap) as otherwise I would of not resisted, despite my A1ld plan for Monday or Tuesday, I see they have a selection. Anyway it was a "silly shop" today just kitchen rolls, some cheap choc biscuits and a small coffee jar rather than a proper shop.
Also if there's time I have to throw in that app form elsewhere too. I might also see if Ald have anything while I am in there, no harm in asking.Despite (these days) some places say "check online!" I have found actually asking in person directly rather than over a phone etc usually results in a better answer. Same as if you are trying to get sense from say a docs reception area as it seems quite variable on a phone call but in person you always get sense!
Back to foods: Did not really feel like lunch either today not quite 100%, so I just settled for a couple of lightly buttered (well marg actually) peppered crackers, a bit like a mini sandwhich and an instant 'veg soup in a cup' .
Also on the hunt for some turkey stock cubes if possible. I thought they were seasonal like the granules but it appears not to be the case, just not many places have them in. I'm not going out my way for them though its a case of if I see them at a good price (pound or less) I'll get them mainly as I do not recall trying them. I would like those onion based ones at some point too.0 -

.
That's my experience as well, so much harder for a person to look at you and politely tell you "s0d off I CBA"
I always book my doc's at reception, went in once for blood results, told "We're busy, phone later."
I pointed out the empty waiting room to them and they found my results.
What they really meant to say of course was "S0d off I CBA to look them up now" but impossible to say face to face without a complaint going inNumerus non sum0 -
Tea: Some jelly babies .... while I'm waiting for a pack of noodles to cook0

I really have not decided, but not being 100% I was thinking of just some quick marrowfat peas in the zapper, possibly with a single sliced up carrot thrown in. Not for an hour though at least. Hmm.
I'm hungry but not hungry at the same time!
Talking of Noodles, I'm slightly ashamed to say there's a "noodle pot" chicken/mushroom that I've had for at least four months in the cupboard, as an 'emergency standby' I must do something with that as it expires (apparently) start of next month. That's the only flavour I can tolerate.
I did try another brand of them and did not like. Those ones you get in a powder to make in a mug as a shot, not too bad (4 x £1 usually) but there's not a lot to them. I've not had any of those for ages as again I've tried various flavours and its only the chicken one I can eat, the chow-mien one I did not like.
I know some people frown on these 'pots' however I will try to keep one 'on the shelf' for quick instant snack needs if required, to me that seems a reasonable use of 50-60p for something that can stay in the cupboard for months.0 -

To quote J Frank Parnell in Repo Man, "...contains all the necessary nutrients for survival, taste good too by golly"
Back in the day I used to live on these, (and Guinness), until I discovered ramen was cheaper
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -

Surprised to read they contain 'enough' ?I really have not decided, but not being 100% I was thinking of just some quick marrowfat peas in the zapper, possibly with a single sliced up carrot thrown in.
It was enough for now. As I have to go to the local shop soon I may investigate their freezer content as I tend to skip this 'at that place' but its been a few months. I have a vague idea of a small pack of some kind of frozen potato product, although it would be (from there) a less known brand. Mind you it would be cheap though.
I was thinking about beef/other meat/vegan burgers earlier but I want to post about that tomorrow ideally., I have some ideas and recalled something that was occasionally done as 'tea' (part of) at one point, I'd completely forgotten.
