I've never eaten any fresh fish.
It's been fish fingers and fishcakes for me.
It all looks "a bit gross" ... and creepy

Don't mind if fish is in chunks, in, say, a fish pie ... but no shrimps/prawns because they're super-creepy.

PN - are you having pie today since it's "Pi" day? (3.14)

LOL. No, I didn't even have one last week when it was Pie Week. I have a never-ending raft of "leftovers" to perpetually get through, which limits flexibility/eating what I want when I want it.

Today .... I need to do something with those parsnips. I think I'll just cook them and shove them in the fridge for now .... maybe the freezer tomorrow. Ditto the huge swede I've got.

So now the freezer will be full of things I don't fancy, again. :)

I might make bubble/squeak just to prevent the cabbage going into the freezer.... I don't fancy it, but if I don't eat it then it'll annoy me every time I open the freezer.

I'm having to stay in for the workmen today to fix the toilet. What fun I have!:p
Nightmare. When I had the bathroom done in my last house, I had to furtively wee in the garden. :(

Up at silly o clock. Normally if I wake early I listen to radio, but blooming batteries were flat. I use rechargeable and they just die without warning

Up and made a pot of tea and drinking it before PN had put kettle on. I use loose leaf tea if I have time. During my early morning [STRIKE]slouching[/STRIKE] reading I noted W/r now stock a new one, so may just try it and hang the cost

Fresh fish, I like it, and have toyed with the idea of using the free bus pass to go down the fish dock & buy freshly caught. I've seen it on sale but at the time I have been walking about doing other things, so carrying wet fish around for a few hours on a warm day did not appeal

Breakfast was porridge & HM yoghurt, this time with pseudo maple syrup instead of honey. More Use Up stuff

Sun's out so I intend doing a quick potter by taming a blackberry, then lunch of PB baguette, with last of the Stilton plus salady bits

The MIA onion rescue is anticipated around Easter, my birthday near then and away day pick up already arranged, so a bit of extra curricula activity for DGS factored in;)

  • Thinks...wondering what best to do for food today. Vegetables available are cauliflower (needs using up), a solitary carrot, peppers and I do have rather a lot of tomatoes at the moment.Suggestions welcome...

So - going a bit off-piste courtesy of those tomatoes. Wonders be praised - but there were actually some free tomatoes (which were probably organic too) there on offer to takers yesterday. I figured I was well due for "something" as the karmic balance sheet must have gone pretty well into the "black" over recent weeks (courtesy of giving away stuff that had cost me hundreds of £s to buy) - so took a few:). It was with rueful grin to myself at just how rare it is to get anything at all for free here. You know an area is pretty poor? mean? when the vast majority of stuff at nearest car boot sale is something I'd throw straight in the bin as rubbish - though, thankfully, I've found out where to go for a car boot sale selling decent stuff and occasionally buy a few bits from it.

farway, that happens to my radio, in fact you reminded me to charge it today. If I wake up at silly o`clock, I put my hand out and push the on button down and it is on very low and I always fall asleep again, it concentrates my mind, stops it being whizzy. I honestly could not do without that little radio by my bed.

I am just back from sainsbury, managed to get two A2 milks and just emptied the rest of the soya milk away, I am pretty convinced that my stomach is not happy with soya milk. I have some nice new fresh veg in the fridge and all that remains today is to use the older veg for lunch. I found a chunky piece of cod, the last one and will spread that with pesto and bake. I have taken frozen berries out to have with yogurt and almonds mid afternoon and a pice of date slice for some time

Fish is coming on friday and I like to work quickly, cut, pack in vac bags and freeze so will put quick freeze on as soon as I get up

I made an organic order with realfoods, some nuts and pinto beans etc. Cashews to make nut cream and not a big amount of any nut. Yes I pay a premium to get smaller quantities but heyho at least they will be fresh

Well I've blown the budget and I blame you lot. Both the hake and the sea bass were expensive this week so he tried to flog me a nice piece of haddock, but I am not so keen on haddock for some reason. So I ended up with some hake - and just to prove I am not boring and predictable, I also got a small piece of bream - which I've never tried before. Unfortunately that was the same price per kilo as the hake.
The purse is now somewhat lighter. I would sell my body except that would only get me a couple of fish sticks. :(

I know that's not aimed at me :)

If you'd taken note of what I eat you'd be down the cheap supermarket looking for the cheapest fish fingers :)
