I do prefer the Tilda rice (but not the one with coriander 🤢 ) and buy it when I see it on offer for those days I want something quick as it's not very MSE 🤫 own brands can be harder and the pack can be smaller (I don't like U Bens) I use them when doing things like stuffed vegetables and I can stretch one with lots of added veg

easy day food wise as lunch was the same as yesterday a mug of HM soup with some crustless quiche and a small slice of gammon whilst I waited for the soup to ping 🙂 dinner was a noodle, chicken, veg type thing, a kind of open fridge door and throw it together meal 😁

    Good morning everyone,
Chaos rules here this morning, the cistern was more tricky to fix than anticipated so the clearing up awaits and my sis & nephew have just had to get COVID tests after he developed mild symptoms last night. Needless to say I'm noodling on here enjoying a cuppa
The sausage & leek pasta dish was delicious and really simple to make, it's been added to the "make again" list.
Chicken filo kiev from the freezer tonight, the last two of the batch made some weeks ago. We'll have them with baked spuds, baby carrots, savoy cabbage and creamed mushrooms. Lunch  is going to a ham, cheese & pickle sandwich or toastie.

Put them out in the shed.... lock the door and shout the Spanish inquisition through the door asking where the heck they thought that might've been picked up from :)

Goodness knows PN but we are in a hotspot area so it's fairly rife. They are following the rules but so are many folk that catch it but do have to shop etc. The results may of course be negative 🤞.

Good afternoon folks, bit late because I did make Wisley after early start, booked entry slots, like supermarket deliveries, but no limit once inside
A very pleasant day in the sunshine [since vanished], plenty of fresh air & exercise as well

I made up a couple of cheese & cuc sarnies to take along for lunch, no way was I queuing in a mask for yonks for over priced food
Just as well I did because the SD queues for food / drink were as long as expected
Sarnie scoffed with fake Kit Kat for pud

Dinner will be repeat of yesterday, C & O pasty, with LO beans & HM AF chips

Caron , hope the tests are clear for them, must be hard to avoid mingling  in some places out shopping

I hope the test results are negative Caronc

Farway it was the same when I went to Abbotsbury Gardens, timed slot booked on line and as long as you wanted in the gardens. You were lucky with the weather today I bet the colour was lovely

Today was the same as yesterday 😐 work and then pottering, I'm off next week so just two more days to go 😁 If the situation doesn't change I'll pick up my sister for a few days next week but we're playing that by ear at the moment and plans are loose.  I have too much holiday to use up so will be off if she doesn't come up.  This weekend will be doing the house work as she's like my mum and can spot a speck of dust or some cat hair across the room 🙄

lunch was a gammon and cheese toasted sandwich (ortwo pieces of cheese on toast made into a sandwich with gammon and piccalilli 😁. Dinner was using some more of the LO this time with green veg and chips

Bit of a nippy morning.  The heating's on for about 2-3 hours/day, in the evening, from when the LL gets in to about 10ish, so it could be 5-10 or 7-10. Yesterday it was 7-10.
So this morning it's... nippy.  Also, being an older house, even though double glazed, all the windows are wet so need wiping down 2-3x in the morning thoroughly... sitting here now with the window open, airing the room .... because it can't really get any colder than it is :)

I've got some houses I don't want to drive past later, about 4-5 of them, so that's a big Round Robin trip, about 6-7 miles round trip, so I'll also add in a trip to 2-3 food shops.  Frozen's always the issue though, still wanting frozen from different shops.  Plus the "faff" of getting it indoors as I have to bring it up to my room, change my shoes, wash my hands, before I can enter the kitchen (down all those stairs again)...

Freezer's just got one lasagne and half a portion of chips in it though.  Need more chips, burgers, fish fingers.... maybe some battered fish and mushy peas need to be bought. Oh and vinegar.

Nothing for breakfast probably .... CBA in this cold to go through the rigmarole of going down to the toaster and up again :)

Sucks to be bone idle :)

Looking blowy outside as well as cold PN, could you compromise on the frozen? Maybe a few pence more or is it that they don't sell what you want?
Although I know with burgers / sausages I'm be very particular on the "brand" Too much gristle over the years :s
Hope the drive bys go well, finish up with bag of chips somewhere? :)

Bit of catching up to do, "office" type stuff, renew this & that.
Had a big surprise, my car breakdown cover is the same price as last year, unheard of! I was getting ready fro the annual ring round but no need. Mind you with this CV I'm not sure I really need car breakdown but sod's law it would breakdown on my way the CV testing station

Lunch, I reckon a sausage sarnie will be just right. I've gor a pack of six ready, waiting and in date
Dinner, a couple more of the sausages, with use up LO mash + cabbage as Bubble & Squeak
I may add a couple of fried eggs on top, depends how the frying pan situation is at the time.
I only have two, one jumbo & one just right for a couple of  eggs / salmon fillet
I suppose I could use the mash to make potato cakes etc but CBA to faff about when it's same stuff in another form

    Good morning everyone,
My sister & nephew were contacted yesterday evening to say their COVID19 tests were unreadable and they are to be re-tested today. Apparently this is not uncommon but thankfully there is a testing centre nearby. My sis is still symptom free and my nephew seems to have only a mild dose if it is COVID though he's feeling pretty washed out. They usually get their weekly shop on Thursday and were running low on essentials so my son was dispatched to Morrison's with a list to make sure they have adequate supplies. Said supplies were left on their door step to avoid any inadvertent mingling.
Chilly and dull here this morning, it's dry just now but I don't think for long.
Brambling , we're trying the JO sweet and sour pork tonight. I bought some of  the chutney  used in the sauce last week and have had to hid it in the cupboard so my son didn't scoff it
HM soup from the freezer with bread to dip and some grapes for lunch.

It's cheap frozen chips - and the ones I've tried in the past that cook up best in the nuker.... as I'm taking a frozen product and cooking it in a way it's never designed for, it's hit and miss which ones work/best.  In my experience so far, L1dl perform best, 4ldi aren't good, 1celand gave a pretty grotty outcome and I can't remember what Mr T's did ... but, if I've found something that works I prefer to stick with it as trying another brand/variation could mean me having to plough through 1.5Kg (5-6 meals, 2-3 weeks) of inadequate food when I could just be patient and get L1dl.
