We are in the process of moving and are seeking a new mortgage. Our advisor has mentioned that we may be able to move from IF, our current provider, to Halifax as they have given us an offer in principle. He did also mention that as we are current customers of the hbos group and have a good credit rating, halifax may not require proof of income - have I misunderstood or is this correct?

If they have done the agreement in principle for you, it will normally list what items they require i.e. proof of income.
They can request whatever information they want, at any time during the process.
If I remember your previous posts, you have proof of income, so that should not be a concern really should it?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks for the reply,
No it won't be a problem but I am slightly wary of the mortgage advisor due to a few things he has advised so far. I just can't understand why any company would not require proof - apparently nothing is listed on the AiP.0 -
If your credit score is good enough, Halifax don't require proof of income, even up to 95% in some cases, whether you're a customer of the group already or not.
They take the view that if you have a good enough background and credit profile then they're not concerned at all about lending to you.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
