Struggle Getting my P60

in Cutting tax
Hi everyone.
I'm having severe trouble getting my P60 from an ex employee.
I worked there last year between August and December, however, a couple of weeks before i left, the pub was bought by someone else. I recieved my P45 from the old owners, and worked for a couple of weeks for the new owners, and then left for a new job.
However, ever since then, i've not been able to get a P60 or even a P45 from them.
I went and talked to the owner 3 times, the first 2 times, he said he was passing it on to his accountant, then the next time, he said it was with the accountant, and should be with me within a month.
I waiting 2 months, as I had other things on my mind, then went to collect it, but they had "lost" it.
He took my address, and said the accountant would send it directly to me (the P60) however, i'm still waiting over a month later.
What are my options? I need my tax rebate (about £800). Shall i just send a letter with my P45 from the old employees, and my end of year P60 from my current employees, and state that i earnt roughly £100, but have been unable to get a P60 from the new owner?
Any advice would be brilliant!
Thanks in advance:beer:

First of all, as you wern't employed at the pub on 5 April this year, you won't get a P60.
They should, however, have given you a P45, but I think you are flogging a dead horse by persuing this.
Contact HMRC and give them details of your employments and any periods when you were claiming benefits during the year ended 5 April 2007. Send them any P45's you have and explain you were unable to get a P45 from the new pub owners. They will then chase them up and deal with your refund. There is only so much you can do and HMRC have more clout.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -
Have you got all your pay slips? You are advised to keep them until you get your P60 as the revenue can calculate any tax rebate from them. (They have done this for me in the past.) Then at your new employers you just need to complete a P46 as once you get paid your new employers won't want your P45 anyway, so unfortunately you will be on emergency tax until it's sorted out by the revenue.
If you think your ex-employers are being really difficult and think it's dodgy I suggest you report the new owners to the tax fraud line on 0800 788 887, open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, Saturday and Sunday 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

He said he was going to get me a copy of my P60 as apparently it had just been lost.
I also didn't have any pay slips from the new employee. Didn't really think anything of this as I was only there for such a short period of time!
Why is it not just as simple as the tax office knowing how much tax you have paid, how much tax you should have paid during the tax year, and they give you the difference!
Guess it's meant to put people off getting tax rebates!0 -

It is as simple as that but they are not psychic. They do not always have all of your pay details so they need to get them from you. Maybe your previous employer did not pay any tax for you.0 -

Perhaps he too did not know what a P60 actually is. A P60 is raised by employers for every employee who is still employed by them on the last day of the tax year, i.e. 5 AprilOriginally posted by Alex_Kingsley

It is a legal requirement to hand out payslips. Anybody who doesn't get a payslip should be asking why ????0 -

It can be that simple - it's happened to me. But it can be several years after the event - it's quicker and more reliable to chase it up.0 -
If I was you, I would just write to HMRC and claim on the info you have. It's not your job to chase around recalcitrent employers - let HMRC do it.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
