NHS Superannuation Scheme (Scotland)

I am looking to find out my projected retirement income. I was advised to write to the NHS Superannuation Scheme (Scotland) office in Galashiels. Their reply states ‘no one in our department be able to give you a projection of your pension and we will only provide this information to members 12 months away from retirement’. I can’t help feel there is a misunderstanding here. I am perfectly willing to pay for this information (have been told it is available for a fee).
If anyone knows what department I should write to, how I should frame my request and what fee I should include I would be very grateful.

you can get current pension benefits here http://www.sppa.gov.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1144&catid=242&Itemid=276 (similar to TRS in England)
They can't give you projections as they don't know how long you will work for or what future income will be.
You may be able to use the info they give you to project it yourself.
re the last 12 months - I am in that and still can't get any sensible answer from them, have done the calculations myself.0 -

Oh dear I hope you're wrong, I'm on the final straight too! Planning on going this year, my Trust Pension Officer has requested 3 projections for me- May this year (reach 40/80ths in March), November this year (just after I reach pensionable age) and November 2021 (when I reach 58) I'm in the 1995 scheme, MHO.
My projection will come from NHS England office in Blackpool, you can get a good guesstimate if 1995 member- 1/80 of final salary for each full year of membership, lump sum 3x pension although there are variables such as commuting pension to get larger lump sum or reducing pension for years worked part time.
I hope this helps!CRV1963- Light bulb moment Sept 15- Planning the great escape- aka retirement!0 -

The final salary part of my pension is relatively simple but I have a significant chunk of practitioner service that is calculated differently and causes headaches ... allegedly they can't work out the actual figures until I apply for the pension itself0 -

Oh, but I'd bet a penny to a pound if you owed them they'd know! There must be a standard formula that is used or there would be no consistency?

I've definitely paid them enough (and come out of the scheme now) - they just can't do the sums until all the final bits are credited (takes at least 18 months with Capita in charge). Officer pay much easier!0

That's really not how the world of pensions admin worksAnd GP pensions are made complicated by a distinctly sui generis (though ultimately preferential) taxation regime...
