Charity Auction for Special Education

 :smileyhea :happylove :lovethoug :happyhear :kisses3:   :hello:   :xmassmile :snow_grin :rotfl:
HI I've just joined this site- it seems great.
I need find out if anyone knows any good links or advice for putting on a charity auction for a special education unit here in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. They are a tax deductable organisation and they do absoloutely wonderful work helping kids with multiple disabilities. They desperately need to upgrade their equipment it will cost at least $100 000.
They should be funded properly so they can just concentrate on the important work they do....
We have 100 paintings about A2 size done by kids with special needs- Autism, etc- they are beautiful paintings. The Collection is called "Kids and Carers"
I have no idea what I'm doing as far as who to ask for help
where this is concerned.
I don't know how to get a free listing on EBAY.
I ceratinly don't have the money to pay for an auction- as I am a parent of one of these kids.
So if anyone knows anyone who can organise such events or just help me too... I would be so very very grateful....
Thanks lovies...

    Hi Geckomum74 and welcome!

I can't offer too much information but as the mum of a boy with multiple disabilities I know how important these fundraising efforts are.

We did a fund-raiser for our son with the help of a local restaurant and with just a few friends and family we managed to raise £1000 in one night!

Have you thought of talking to a local auction house to see if they are willing to offer you any free advice on how to go about it. I've found that by swallowing pride and actually begging for help, companies are often more than willing to get involved. We know it makes them look good but I think you'll find that some places want to help but don't know how they can.

I know it's not on the same scale as what you need but an example of this happened to us just yesterday. A couple of weeks ago my husband asked a local store if they could get a particular sized fibre optic xmas tree for our son's bedroom to aid his sensory experience, we went to pick it up and the staff have donated it along with a set of lights! Puts faith back in your heart...

Good luck and I really hope you get the target (and hopefully more)

    sam
