IVA vrs DMP - What is the real impact ?

Hi, I am currently in a DMP , I had a 3 month review and they have told me I could get an IVA. They are sending me info out, obvious difference is 10 years DMP IVA will last only 5 years. What I would appreciate is if someone who has had experiance of and iva what is the true dissadvantages of an iva as oppossed to staying on a dmp? I have read martins write up on it but Im still non the wiser and am looking for someones experiance and also what is the long term affect of an iva after you have completed it ?
