Early disharge

Just got the letters in the post! We were discharged nearly a month ago!!
Funny that I have been checking the insolvency register quite a bit lately, and it still shows us as Br!
It took 6 months in total, and now I am smiling so much my face hurts.:j

    Well Done, Uther. :T :T

Funnily enough there was almost a month between my ED and my receiving the letter.

Does anyone know how long the Insolvency Service keeps details of your Discharge Date on its website?

    Great News Uther. :j:beer:

The OR has to do a bit of admin to update the IR site. Normally done quickly, but it can obviously get delayed.

How long do records stay on the register?

Depending on the type of entry, details stay on the register as follows:
    • Bankruptcy records stay on the register for 3 months after the date of the individual's discharge. If a bankruptcy order is cancelled on the grounds that it ought not to have been made, the debts have been paid or a voluntary arrangement has been approved, then the record of the order will be removed from the register.
    • IVA and FTVA records stay on the register until revoked, completed or terminated.
    • BRO and BRU records stay on the register until they expire or come to an end. They will also be removed if the bankruptcy is annulled (cancelled) on the grounds that it ought not to have been made.

Just checked the register again and see this:
Discharged On 19 September 2007 (Early Discharge)

Very very happy.Have to say our Br was painless, after the initial telephone interview we heard very little from the OR,until we got the ED forms a couple of months ago.I wish we had done it years ago,and saved ourselves all the stress of living with crippling debts.

Maybe a daft question but: Now I have the ED does that mean I don't need to talk to the OR again? We are moving house in a few weeks and I am assuming the OR does not need the new address? I don't have an IPA/IPO.
  • Great news, uther. :j If you don't have an IPA/IPO, then I don't think you & the OR need to be talking again either. :)
