Paying for returns when item's not as described/picture.

I was wondering about this please.

I bought a coat online, it's arrived today and it's not as pictured, the colour is quite different and it's quality is poor, even though it's not a cheap coat.

I had a look to returning it but the site says I have to pay for postage. On a coat, that will be quite a lot.

Is there anything I can do when it's not as pictured/described?

Oh, also I am disabled, so getting to the post office is not easy for me.

Where did you buy it from? Ebay or a retailer? Ebay says if it's not as described the seller pays the postage. Other retailers, unless its faulty then it depends on the retailers terms and conditions so if that's what they say that's what you've agreed to. You can't judge colours properly from a photo so that in itself wouldn't be enough to say it's faulty. Unless they've made a mistake and clearly sent you the wrong colour.
It's generally a good idea to check the terms and conditions before buying - a lot of companies have similar conditions.

Edited to add, if you paid delivery costs for the item to be sent out I think you can claim those back, which might cover the cost of the return.

No, it's from a retailer, not ebay.

It's also poorly made, so it's a cape coat and on one side there's an excess of lining that shows through because it's cut wrong.

I didn't pay delivery on it, no.

Have you contacted them?

Is it the wrong colour or a different shade? As mentioned, that might be a hard argument. The quality argument may be easier.

You need to know if they agree it's not satisfactory. If they do, they cover return postage or they collect it at their cost .

Who are they? UK company?
