hi we are after advice please on cheap travel to Blackheath London from king's lynn, Norfolk if possible by train and most direct route please?
we haven't been on a train for many years so not sure of best place to book.

Most direct would be:

King's Lynn to Kings Cross (Great Northern)
Kings Cross to London Bridge (Northern line - Underground)
London Bridge to Blackheath (Southeastern)

Hi Nicci,

I don't think you can avoid going into London and out again so King's Lynn to Kings' Cross then Tube (Northern Line) to London Bridge for Blackheath. You can also take Victoria Line to Victoria for Blackheath which is longer but improves your chances of a seat on the Blackheath train.

If you can drive - I'd go A10 through Ely, pickup M11 at Cambridge, all the way to the end (ignore M25) then A12 to Blackwall Tunnel and onto the A2 for Blackheath.

When are you travelling? Return Fares look to be £98.60 for 2 adults return
Kings Lynn to London Kings Cross.
Change to London Underground Northern Line (Towards Morden) to London Bridge.
Change to South Eastern Trains (Towards Crayford) to Blackheath.

£98.60 is the fare including a London Travelcard. An Off peak Day return for two people is £80.80

Two adults travelling together holding a "Two Together" Railcard would pay £53.30. Such a railcard costs £30 per year, so for this one trip would nearly recover its cost, and then the two people could make further trips with 1/3rd off normal fares for a further 12 months.

If you want a one-way ticket it costs £36.40 each (without railcard)
If you are coming back but not the same day then an off-peak return costs £49.30 each (without railcard)
There are other more expensive tickets available.

All this could be handled on the day at King's Lynn station Booking Office.

If you go at the weekend, there is a ‘Super off peak return’ costing around £25 without travelcard, or about £32 each with a travelcard. If you have a network card, you can knock a third off that. (I.e. £18 return each to London, or £24 each with travelcard). In the week that’s £38 return without travelcard or £44 with.
