Co Op (CWS) Pension Scheme

Before anyone says 'write to them to ask' that is my intention - I'm just asking here first in case someone can definitely say I'd be wasting my time.

To cut a long story short, my dear late mum was never very financially savvy - to her, her pay packet was just something her wages came in, and any accompanying information was just waste paper.

She worked full time for the co-op before she married - I think something like late 1940s to early 1950s - and then again after she married. This would have been from the early 1960s until the mid 1980s, and so more likely to be at least part pensionable.

She sadly died not long after her 65th birthday, and I don't recollect seeing any CWS pension information in her paperwork.

So, my question is, could she have been entered into the CSW pension scheme ?

Thanks !

Possible, as mum didn't believe in paying out if she didn't need to - but, if the same (pre 1988?) rules applied to the CSW as the LGPS, it was only possible to opt out of a company pension if you were already paying into a private pension. And she did pay into her next employer's scheme, as she drew that pension from when she retired at 60.

It'll be worth the price of a stamp just to put my mind at rest.

Thanks for your response - I'll let you know how I get on.
