Sorry Speky I vote for clean shaven0

Morning everyone
Speky - My vote is for clean shaven too. My nephew has a black bushy beard and I think it looks awful!
I was up in good time this morning as the engineer was coming at 9 to do my annual gas safety check....he arrived just after half 8 so its a good job I was up and dressed. Then I had a Tesco shop arrive and put that away. Back to healthier food this week...I'm not overweight but I seem to have eaten a lot of chocolate and biscuits over the last few weeks.
I washed my bedding this morning...its very damp and dull so I'm going to go down to my mams and 'borrow' her tumble dryer. My dad saw an ad for a deal on Sky broadband and wants me to phone to see if he can get it. Not sure who was talking about saving older relatives money....my mam and dads Scottish Power tariff ends at the end of the month and the price was to increase from £48 a month to £75. I rang but couldn't get it cheaper, so I have changed them to Eon for £49 a month fixed for 2 years. I always ring places for my dad, say he's got dementia and he just has to agree with the person on the other end when asked who he is.....though he does sometimes feel the need to tell them his army national service number too!
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Well despite the nurse practitioners reassurance I was right about those tablets, OH was as bad as Monday by mid afternoon yesterday, so I did not give him anymore and suffered for it all night.......have had very little sleep and feel like death warmed up. I am waiting for another visit from I hope, a doctor this morning. OH ate a mouthful of breakfast, did not drink his tea and is now fast asleep again.........me like a wet dishrag.
I need to sort the bins out I have a full bag of plastic waste in the kitchen and the kitchen bin needs a clean bag in it, its starting to smell. Dustbin men come tomorrow.
I did manage to get OH into the shower last night, changed the towels, they are whirling round in the dryer. I need to take the stuff off the airer in the back bedroom and try and do another couple of bits of ironing.
Cleaners day tomorrow.0 -
Good Morning every one and nice to see you back in the land of the living speky So many bugs and virus's about at the moment I think down in the south of England we need a short sharp frost to kill them off.Just seem to be getting damp wet weather all the time and often when the temperature goes up the bugs seem to multiply more.
I always look forward to the spring and find January and February such horrible months. But slowly the days are getting lighter in the afternoons at least.
I have got my fist wash load of the new Year on at the moment and I am hoping the rain will hold off long enough for the stuff to have a blow on the line ,even damp dry is better than having it hanging around for days .
No shopping at least this week which is good and only a small piece of Christmas cake left to use up with a cuppa this afternoon
Life is getting back to normal after all the excitement of Christmas and the New Year thank goodness, nice as the holidays are I much prefer 'normality' and routine
My computer room is almost finished of the grand declutter and is looking quite nice now I am pleased with the result and just going through various things to see what needs renewing this month .My bus pass for sure, and my cinema exhibitors ticket are both due for renewal so I will sort those out this week.
Next month its my Dobbies loyalty card but thats easy as its renewed automatically by D/Debit Great value as I get 24 hot drinks per year for £10.00, 2 a month which I use at U3A coffee mornings
Nice quite week for me this week as my son-in-law is working from home and I can get on with doing a really good deep clean indoors (along with the decluttering )
Hope everyone is warm and dry and <<hugs >> for those who are going through a tough time .
As one of the ...errrm older folk on here I always question any renewals and see if I can get a better quote ,I also do it for my less informed friends as often they feel a bit too shy to argue:):) not me when it comes to cash
I would argue with the almighty if I think I can get a better deal my DDs say
Have a good day chums another week has almost flown by already
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Afternoon everyone.
Sadly, I haven't been lying in bed all morning, I was 'up and at them' fairly early. I've decided to stay here today and drive down to Glasgow tomorrow morning first thing.
The trip I had planned to the tip yesterday was done this morning, dropped a letter off at the GPs (which had been in my handbag since mid-November), dropped off a cheque to the charity's treasurer and posted a wee parcel to a friend. Now I've had mushrooms on toast.
I want to stop eating bread again but have a whole (and pricey) very tasty sourdough, as my freezer already has three of the same loaf in I've decided to eat this one up with the bits and pieces leftover from the hols. There's eggs and some lovely cooked ham and two packets of tomatoes too. I might roast the tomatoes this time.
It suddenly hit me last night that I hadn't lifted the potatoes planted in August! They were meant for Christmas... :rotfl: they are still in the grow bags which I moved into the small barn after weeks and weeks of rain. I'll go to root around shortly and won't be surprised if they have rotted away.
Healing thoughts to everyone out there.
Happy Thursday folks.0 -
Speky I'm for - as long as it's well groomed & trimmed
DH has a tidy beard / overgrown stubble which may come off soon if he needs to wear a beard-net for client site visits
DS1 has a long goatee, which looks good too.

Morning all,Judi, your granddaughter is such a little love though I bet you don't say that when she's screeching her head off!
She takes a bit to settle when i have her but she screams at home. I dont think it helps that her Mummy wont let her go to anyone other than me. Her other Nanny hasnt looked after her either. Her other Nanny was always hands on with Livewire but my daughter tends to keep her to herself (or me). Things will change next week though as my daughter is back at work. I will be having her one day, her other Nanny will be having her one day and she will be in nursery one full day too. I hate the idea of her going to nursery at 4 months old but less said about that the better.
Speky Beards. I have specific ideas...:D
Not too long that it looks unkept, not too short that it just likes you cant be bothered. Do you have a baby face? If so a beard will look more 'grown up'. Are you blonde? If so stands a chance no one will notice it. Finally, does the beard hair grow the same colour as the hair on your head? I know it sounds daft but Grumps beard grows back ginger (and grey) when the hair on his head is a dark blonde.
Glad you didnt ask about moustaches.:rotfl:
