Tax issue/code change new job

Started a new job in October, which involved going from monthly to weekly pay, upon leaving previous job my tax code was 1223L iirc,I've then had a letter after starting new job claiming I owe a small amount of tax by April 2018 and my tax code has been changed in light of this to 883L
Thing is on my payslips it now shows the new tax code but also it only shows taxable ytd pay as that I've earned in the new job,is this correct?
I have a feeling, although my p45 has been sent that it hasn't been submitted, would that cause this issue?
Thanks in advance
