Another holiday entitlement question

Hi All
I'm having a bit of a brain freeze for some reason & for the life of me can't work this out.
We have an employee works for us that is entitled to 30 days holiday per year. This is 28 days statutory and then 2 extra days for long term service. Said employee is now leaving so I need to calculate what holiday entitlement they are owed.
For info, leaving date is 12th January 2018. Holiday year starts 1st January 2018.
Sorry for yet another holiday entitlement question, I can usually work it out myself but my brain has decided to forget this simple calculation over the Christmas period!

worth keeping that page bookmarked.
Sorry, forgot that only shows entitled amount not the additional. although it can be worked from it.
Assuming they work 5 days a week.
30 days holiday / 52 weeks = 0.577 holidays per week worked / 5 days = 0.115 holidays per day worked.0 -
Were you closed on 1st January? The entitlement seems to be for approx. 1 days holiday.Hi All

12th Jan is 2 weeks into the year.
30*2/52=1.154 days less the Mon NY BH if they got that paid.0 -
Another way - there are many -
Convert to hours
If full-time is 37.5/week over 5 days that's 7.5 hours/day.
So 7.5 x 30 = 225 hours for a full year
Say an employee for 12 days out of 365.
225/365 x 12 = 7.397260273972603 hours
Can round up but not down for statutory entitlement so might as well round up to 7.5 hours, ie one day - the New Year Day BH if that was taken.0 -
For 30 days a year you need to multiply all days worked by 13.04%.
So if full time they will have worked 9 days if they had 1st off, 9x13.04% equals 1.1736 days minus the 1st which they would have taken as paid holiday and they are owed .1736 of a dayBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
Or you might work it out monthly rounded up, in which case they are owed three days. There really are a lot of ways of working it out.
What method do you usually use to work out holidays? because that is how you should approach this. You need to be consistent.

The way to work it out is defined in the Working time regulations.
That is the proportion of the holiday year
you can use any other method as long as it comes out more than the statutory amount due.0 -
Thank you everyone. Just to answer a few questions, they do work 5 days a week & we were closed on 1st January. I usually use the government holiday calculator because everyone else working here only has statutory entitlement as they've not been here for long enough to earn long term service award. I usually round up to the nearest half day, so I will do that & will take a copy of the calculations some of you have provided just in case I need it again in future.0
