Hi
I have just completed on my property with Northern Rock my mortgage lender. I am looking to live in the property but sub let a couple of rooms, do i have to notify NR of this? if so what penalties i am likely to receive?

If you are still living in the property this shouldn't be an issue. This is because lodgers have little rights in law, as opposed to tenants.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Northern rock do a 'rent a room scheme' so it shouldn't be too much of a problem, your lodger will probably have to sign some kind of waiver form..if you don't tell them & they find out..not sure how they would then you are in breach of the T&C of your mortgage offer0
